Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance Spring Concert: A Celebration of Art and Achievement
The Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance (RCD) is set to hold its highly anticipated Spring Concert at Ridgefield High School on Saturday, June 1, and Sunday, June 2. This annual event promises an array of captivating performances showcasing the talent and dedication of RCD students.
Tickets for the performances will be available at the door, priced at $35 for adults and $25 for children and seniors.
The Saturday program will feature students from various classes including pre-ballet, ballet, pointe, contemporary, musical theater, and jazz. On Sunday, the concert will include additional performances in pre-ballet, ballet, pointe, modern, and hip-hop.
A highlight of Sunday’s event is the senior presentation, where graduating students will receive the RCD annual senior necklace designed by Anne Koplik Designs, renowned for her jewelry on “Dancing with the Stars.” This ceremony will also honor the National Honor Society for Dance Arts inductees and recognize Serena Trickel, the recipient of the David Livshin/The Dagar Group Ltd scholarship.
In a special tribute, alumna Beth Flanders will be celebrated for her long-standing contributions to RCD. Flanders, who danced under Patricia Schuster’s original school, will be presented with the very Nutcracker flower costume she wore, a piece that holds sentimental value as it is over 25 years old. “RCD is in its 25th year as a nonprofit, and it’s the perfect way to celebrate when we transitioned from the Patricia Schuster School of Dance to the nonprofit Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance. Everything is coming full circle as we celebrate our 60th anniversary next year!” says Executive Director Amy Piantaggini.
The Sunday performance will also feature student choreography inspired by Loie Hollowell’s exhibition at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum. Additionally, the Ridgefield Civic Ballet dancers will premiere a new contemporary work by Piantaggini set to the music of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, alongside several ballet variations including an original piece by Mary Beth Hansohn set to a Max Richter score.
