With the anticipation of a re-opening of performing spaces, Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance (RCD) is ready to bring back an experience that readies dancers for performance.

Students of the Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance, a nonprofit dance school, learn technique, artistry, and creativity…develop the skills of self-discipline, teamwork, and confidence…and aspire to performance opportunities in The Nutcracker, Ridgefield Civic Ballet, college dance programs, and professional dance careers.

Even the youngest dancers have an opportunity to dance at RCD! “We offer classes for two and three-year-olds with their adult companion and three-year-olds who dance independently,” explains Amy Piantaggini, Executive Director of RCD.

Also included in the fall lineup, beginner and intermediate ballet classes for teens and adults and opportunities for the seasoned dancer to perform with a pre-professional dance company.

“This year, we are structuring the format to offer a small limited number of very serious, committed dancers a position in one of our two companies: Ridgefield Civic Ballet, and Civic II. This will provide the selected individuals with pre-professional dance company experience, ensuring training and performing experience across disciplines,” says Piantaggini/

What’s more, RCD dancers will once again have the opportunity to dazzle the community by way of the holiday class, The Nutcracker. “We are thrilled at the plan to return to Ridgefield Playhouse for LIVE PERFORMANCES of Nutcracker 2021 on December 10, 11 and 12,” says  Piantaggini.

About RCD

In 1978, RCD founder Patricia Schuster formed the non-profit Ridgefield Civic Ballet as a way to expand her vision to give young dancers the opportunity to perform on the larger public stage alongside professionals, an experience she believed would inspire them to a higher appreciation for the full world of dance. Some of her students from the early days went on to become professionals themselves, most notably New York City Ballet Principal Dancer James Fayette. Nutcracker was the first main performance that Ridgefield Civic Ballet engaged in.
